New IT-Lex Production Video: Out And About At Legal Tech

February 18th, 2013 § 0 comments § permalink

We just put up a new video, as part of our IT-Lex Productions series. In it, we speak with IT-Lex Members Browning Marean (Senior Counsel, DLA Piper) and Ralph Losey (National e-Discovery Counsel, Jackson Lewis) about their predictions for Tech Law in 2013. They also offer some valuable advice for you law students out there. Also, Adam does a Porky Pig impression. Enjoy! (If you haven’t see our other videos, they’re all on our Productions page).

Guest Post On Ride The Lightning

I wrote a guest post on Sharon Nelson’s great Ride the Lightning blog, about recent revelations that MasterCard and Verizon track and sell their customers’ usage habits. Sharon also co-hosts the Digital Detectives podcast to which we’ve linked in the past.

You can read my guest post, entitled ‘Mastercard and Verizon Acknowledge Selling Customer Data’, here.

Here is the third episode in our monthly educational (but still entertaining, we hope) video series. Adam discusses Metadata: what it is, what it isn’t, and why it’s important. He also gets slapped in the face. Enjoy!

And remember, all of our IT-Lex Productions videos can be seen on the Productions page of this site.

Introducing: IT-Lex Writing Competition

September 25th, 2012 § Comments Off § permalink

We are thrilled today to announce the launch of the first IT-Lex Writing Contest. It’s open to all law students currently enrolled at an ABA-accredited law school, and the topic can be anything technology law related. Did we mention that there are big cash prizes for winners? Well, there are. $5,000 for first place. $1,000 for second. $500 for third. All three top prize-winners will be published in the IT-Lex Journal, and will receive invitations to become write-on Members and a part of the IT-Lex Law Review. Additional worthy entries will also be considered for publication, and we welcome all entries from qualified applicants.

Full rules and a grading rubric can be found on our Writing Contest page. Please help us get the word out, by telling law students that you may know about the Contest. The flyer above can be viewed or downloaded as a PDF here.

Thanks, and good luck!

Introducing: IT-Lex Productions

September 18th, 2012 § Comments Off § permalink

Here’s a short bit of housekeeping. We are proud to announce the launch today of IT-Lex Productions, our series of short videos on the topic of technology law. Once a month, we’re going to put out a video discussing some issue that we feel is of importance. We’ve tried to keep them concise and entertaining, as the above screen grab hopefully indicates. (It makes sense in context, trust us).

The first couple of episodes are available to watch right now on our Productions page. If there’s a topic or subject you’d like to see us address, please drop us a line over Twitter or at our Facebook page, and we’ll certainly consider covering it.

We hope you enjoy them, and stay tuned for more in the future!
